The I Hate Myself Post.

While I was logging in, Sharon started vacuuming. I should have done that.

Now I know I've hit a low point. And I apologise. I'm going to post this and sign off completely now.

The Labels Post.

"The Panettiere Spot," one of my friends dubbed this. But is he right? There's only one way to find out - see how many posts up to now I have via category and sort out the top 10 (well, maybe a bit more than 10). With apologies to those that only had one or two posts (such as Alan Silvestri, Amy Adams, Elmer Bernstein and Tom and Jerry), gradual winnowing determined that the rankings, from 10 to 1, are:

10. sisters (9 labelled posts)
9. unbelievably strokeable women, soundtracks, work work work (10 each)
8. great legs, my favourite women, TV (11 each)
7. Erica Campbell, film music (12 each)
6. proper soundtrack albums (15)
5. Jessica Alba (22)
4. stunning brunette (27)
3. Heroes (31)
2. Hayden Panettiere (41)

And the number one subject posted about here is...

1. Cindy Crawford (63)

So by a margin of 22, this remains The Cindy Spot. So there, Rachel Bilson freak. :)

The On The Third Day Of Christmas Post.

No snow again in London on December 25 (although it snowed in many parts of the world - and quite possibly Scotland - apparently it doesn't count in the UK if it isn't in London. Like many things). And yet Boxing Day was brighter than the big day itself. Huh?

Apart from unintentionally causing Sharon to get a blister on her right hand when I lit the wrong candle (thus resulting in a lampshade catching fire, and Shaz getting said blister while putting it out - and I am SO, SO SORRY...), our Yuletide went quite well, really. No furious arguments, no overeating (at least, not by me - it's such a relief to not feel stuffed over the holidays), and some great presents given and received. To wit:

Hawaii Five-O seasons one and two on DVD (not that I've had a chance to watch them yet thanks to the sisters' endless - though deserved on the sisters' part - viewings of The King of Queens and Everybody Hates Chris, and can I just say here that Arthur from the former is now very much on that hate list down below? Thank you), an Adidas bath set, the new edition of The Anime Encyclopedia, The Onion: Our Dumb World, new shoes, socks for every day of the week, a Borders £50 gift card, and the answer to what if any calendar to get. (Problem solved, since a Heroes calendar was out of the question due to everyone else and a Keeley Hazell one was too embarrassing.)

And best of all, no work until next Wednesday. (Second best of all was finally getting to kiss Bianca at work goodbye for the holidays. Not as extensively as I'd have liked, but never mind.)

Too bad Butch and myself couldn't finish our project in time, but there's always next year.

The My Favourite Month Post.

April is the cruellest month, but December is my favourite. It means the end of another year, and Christmas - a time of peace (well, it should be), and when we see our successful sister Zeta. Or rather when I see her; Shaz is in Malta seeing her now. Add to this next Friday being a non-work day and I should be okay now.

Except that I'm on tenterhooks wondering if my wages are in. And that put a damper on my day off. Even more than the rain...
Enjoy, and see you later.

The Worrying Post.

I live with my big sister. I worry that sometimes when she goes out she'll disappear and leave me alone (I'm not ready to be on my own yet, I don't think). Last night when I woke up and she hadn't come back from salsa, I linked that in my mind to having my picture with Hayden "just as fanciable now she's 18 as when she was 16 and always seemed older than her years anyway so shut up, Superficial trolls" Panettiere up on my wall when that slot should have been reserved for my one with Cindy, if it ever happens.

So I took it down. (Though I still have it in the open.)

Shortly afterwards, she came home. Result: ease. Make of that what you will.

Incidentally, I think Movie Hotties is closer to the truth about Maggie Gyllenhaal than
Egotastic! is, but judge for yourself.

Weekend again.

So what's on my mind?

Well...

1. My boss. A definite case of the more I dislike someone the more I want to engage in rough, angry sex with them (see also C. Aguilera, J. Jackson, N. Campbell, A. Lavigne, E. Cetera). Weird.

2. "How To Stop An Exploding Man." And thus ends Heroes Volume One, the first time I've watched an entire season online before it gets to broadcast UK television, digital or terrestrial. And damn, it was worth it... not only has it managed to fill the Buffy the Vampire Slayer-shaped hole in my life that Charmed, Desperate Housewives and Lost never quite managed (keeping me going from week to week, thinking about it between episodes etc), but if you've seen the illustration you'll know where I'm taking this. Too bad about the Sci-Fi Channel losing first-run rights to Volume Two to the BBC (bigger reach, but they had it first...). And to everyone moaning about the finale; a) he couldn't fly away because he was too busy trying to keep from exploding, b) the guy isn't dead, and c) it's called putting characters ahead of flash. August 1 on BBC2, apparently.

3. The ComicCon has had its dates changed, so I have to readjust my holiday (brought forward a week). Better that than a cancellation.

4. Bridge to Terabithia. Probably a better book than movie. But a good movie. (Too bad about the trailer for Are We Done Yet? however.)

5. Yay for Sharon for getting a break from AOL! She was going to transfer from them but they cut her a deal because she's such a good customer. Now ease up her burden on other things as well, fate.

I like Sunday Sundays

What Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is to Defamer, Gilmore girls is likely to be to The Jay - so the CW's announcement that Lorelai the Elder and Lorelai the Younger are leaving the lineup this year will no doubt lead to a celebratory post from him any day now, as well as making the chances of Veronica Mars getting a fourth season slightly better (this is their third hour-long show to be axed after 7th Heaven and Runaway - what are they going to do, show more reruns of America's Next Top Pandering To Tyra's Ego?). Shame on those of us who like both shows, though - but at least Veronica's back on UK screens. Even if it is on Trouble. (Thanks for letting it go, Living - no room for Miss Mars on the lineup but endless hours of Most Haunted, Tyra and the girls, and a reality show with Abigail Clancy and Janice Dickinson? Cheers.)

Meanwhile, Sharon's under more and more financial pressure, and the guilt's weighing on me because I need to move onto something that pays more, so I can help her more... but can I do it? Apparently not.

I need something to perk me up, please. Ah, here we are - two of my Hall of Famers: Rosanna Arquette tying in with What About Brian. And the queen.

White spats and lots of dollars

Well, yesterday was the first time Mum had afternoon tea at the Ritz, as a surprise on her 60th. And the first time for Sharon and Zeta. And myself.

On the upside, the pianist played "Happy Birthday to You" at one point, although it wasn't for Mum (another, presumably richer, tea-taker was celebrating her 72nd); on the downside, he also played "All By Myself" and "Mandy."

On the upside, there was a very pretty American girl sitting two tables away from me who looked a little like Alexa Vega; on the downside, there was a very nonpretty American man sitting at the table directly behind me chuntering on about The Partridge Family and Midsomer Murders. (Then again, the 72nd birthday celebrater tried to flatter us by suggesting Mum and the sisters were my girlfriends - if the American babe had been right next to us I'd have been even more embarrassed.)

On the upside, Mum continually showed her concern for my health by asking me not to eat so much scones and have tea with less sugar in it (I eventually did); on the downside, Mum continually showed her concern for my health by asking me not to eat so much scones and have tea with less sugar in it.

On the upside, the tea I had (two pots of Traditional English) was the best I've had in a long, long time; on the downside, I managed to drop my napkin and a raspberry on the floor.

On the upside, it wasn't nearly as bad an experience as dreaded. On the downside, I can wait a while before doing it again. Still, I'm glad my mum isn't Jen's mum or Mike's mum, right folks?

April is not the cruellest month.

But it is a busy one. For a start, it marks my mum's 60th birthday which she'll be spending with her children (there's a big disagreement between mum and her own siblings about family land, so they aren't speaking). Apart from the inevitable mollycoddling that Mum'll give me, there's nothing I really dread about it. She can be a bit smothering at times, but excessive concern is better than none at all. And the woman's my mother! And I'm glad Sharon takes after her.

Also, more space-clearing of my soundtracks has to be done; I'm not selling any of 'em, but Shaz talked me into removing the jewel cases and putting them in pouches (thank goodness I've got cassettes and vinyl as well or I'd never be finished). Pros: Increases space, makes it easier when I move out of here... whenever that is. Cons: The inevitable adding of new ones. If you collect stuff and have it in some kind of order, you'll know what a pain it can be to take out all the books or albums or whatever to get your new additions in its right placing - moving everything down one place or two places or whatever. Telekinesis would be useful about now.

Plus, I still haven't registered for the Ubeda festival, and if I don't manage it soon I can't go. Procrastination is another family trait, alas. Which explains why I haven't changed my sheets in months.

On the bright side, only 22 days to go until Heroes comes back...

What have I learned?

I learned that Hilary Duff performing at G-A-Y goes a long way towards atoning for the sight of Courtney Love in Trapped.

I learned that it's good for Sharon to finally win something more than £5 on the lottery.

I learned that the producers of Law & Order: Criminal Intent have only a nodding acquaintance with the concept of "shame."

I learned that the online Heroes comics at NBC's site are the first comic books in a very, very, very long time that I've read, due to my interest in such things being otherwise just about non-existent. Even after seeing the Superman movies, the X-Men movies, the Spider-Man movies, Fantastic Four, Daredevil and even The Phantom.

I learned that I deeply hate getting home too late to make any kind of proper dinner for myself

I learned that I'm too self-absorbed.

"And then there are those times that just plain suck."

Cindy: Booked my tickets for the London Film and Comic Con in September. My first ever convention, and I'm attending for one reason and one reason only.

Feltz
:
Jericho. My rule of thumb is that if I'm not sufficiently engaged by something after three episodes, then it's done. One less thing to set the personal planner for. (I should have known with the presence of Ashley Scott and Jon National Treasure Turteltaub.)

Cindy: Dinner with Sharon after work on Friday. Nice pleasant time in a non-smoking pub.

Feltz: The gammon steak was too salty. Hey, I have to put something.

Cindy:
Tuesday, February 27th: "Tyra's Tribute to Cindy Crawford" - Tyra pays tribute to one of the biggest supermodels in the world! Tyra welcomes her role model, Cindy Crawford, to discuss life after modeling, her family and new business ventures.

Feltz: LivingTV's unwillingness to show non-season one episodes of The Tyra Banks Show (we don't all watch her other show, you know). I need to have this episode, dammit!

Cindy: Deciding to go to the
Ubeda Film Music Conference this summer (in July), also allowing me to get out of the country for a bit. I've never been to Spain, and it's also a chance to actually save some money for once.

Feltz of the Month: Anna Nicole Smith. And the revolting comments many have spewed forth as a result.
