The Music From The Films Of Hayden Panettiere Post.

There are two things that I like; film soundtracks and attractive celebrity women. Finally, something that combines the two. Kicking off this series of posts is one for one of the two women this blog's named for - and since Cindy Crawford has hardly any screen scripted work to her name (and no related soundtracks, unless La-La Land has released Mark Mancina's Fair Game without announcing it), that means Hayden Panettiere.

Not included: songs licensed for inclusion in any of her films (or TV shows), although we'll make an exception for one artist. Also not included: David Newman's The Affair Of The Necklace because she only appears in the prologue as the young Hilary Swank (which is weird considering how they look now, but anyway), or any others - like Message In A Bottle - where she isn't a main character. (Exception: the track from Dinosaur, because it's too darn good.) I'm also not including anything from Marco Beltrami's Scream 4 (especially not "I Got It Right") because of the whole "stabbed and left for dead" thing... even though her character may not be gone, but anyway, it's not pleasant.

This hypothetical CD/download would, however, include among other tracks (and I apologise in advance for them not being embedded -  I did try) :

1. Dot's Rescue (from A Bug's Life) - Randy Newman (4:01)
2. The Egg Travels (from Dinosaur) - James Newton Howard (2:43)
3. Titans Spirit (from Remember The Titans) - Trevor Rabin (7:25)
4. My Hero Is You (from Tiger Cruise) - Hayden Panettiere (3:43)
5. Someone Like You (from The Dust Factory) - Hayden Panettiere and Watt White (3:43)
6. The Big Race (from Racing Stripes) - Mark Isham (7:20)
7. I Fly (from Ice Princess) - Hayden Panettiere (3:33)
8. Claire (from Heroes) - Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman (6:43)
9. Fireflies Blinking (from Fireflies In The Garden) - Javier Navarette (5:36)
10. Beth Cooper Suite (from I Love You, Beth Cooper) - Christophe Beck (4:42)
11. Requiem For Kate (from Alpha And Omega) - Chris Bacon (1:30)
12. I Can Do It Alone (from Hoodwinked Too! Hood Vs. Evil) - Hayden Panettiere (3:28)

Next time, we're off to the Upper East Side of Manhattan's elite...

The Platters That Matter Post.

La-La Land's been putting out quite a few soundtrack CDs for TV shows of late - I've already mentioned their Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Batman: The Animated Series discs, and if I was one for Battlestar Galactica I'd mention their CDs for that show as well (oh wait, I just did). This week, the long-overdue score album of Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman's work on Heroes comes out for pre-order on La-La Land's site (you can already pre-order from Amazon). The CD features music from the first two seasons for sure, otherwise track 8 would be called "Jessica/Niki/Gina/Tracy/Barbara" (tracks in italics are tracks, as the credits say every week, "with the voice of Shenkar"; the asterisked tracks are also on the song album, and I think we can assume the earlier album's "Natural Selection" and "Homecoming" cuts are part of Mohinder's and Claire's suites respectively) and due to the short nature of a lot of the show's cues, many of the tracks are featured in suite form a la a lot of soundtrack albums from the late Maurice Jarre.

Pre-ordering from La-La Land will be my MO, to try and get one of the composer-signed copies. Check out the cover above - and based on the albums for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Summer Glau) and Lost (Maggie Grace), who wants to bet that taking the CD off the tray will reveal a picture of a certain diminutive, dolphin-friendly blonde with a heartrending smile?

1. Heroes Title (:14)*
2. Peter (6:12)

3. Claire (6:43)
4. Hiro (7:30)
5. HRG (6:24)
6. Mohinder (7:59)
7. Sylar (5:30)

8. Jessica/Niki/Gina (5:55)
9. Kirby Plaza (5:41)

10. Fire And Regeneration (2:21)*

The Apologies Post.

Apologies to Aria Giovanni, for that PG Porn video with her and Nathan Fillion. The apology is because I just didn't find it funny - not because of their playing, but more thanks to the punchline being telegraphed practically from the moment I first heard of the clip. Another black mark against writer James Gunn, who also has both Scooby-Doo live-action movies on his CV and hence has a lot to answer for.

On the brighter side, thumbs up to Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman for the forthcoming Heroes score album, even if there's no release date at the time of typing. Expect a review of either that or the Buffy the Vampire Slayer score album sometime in the future. Who should apologise this time? The people who sat on such things while releasing countless song compilations (Grey's Anatomy, The OC, The L Word, etc - though the last named did have at least one score CD as well).
