The Not The Song From "The House Bunny" Post.
My favourite reality-TV-created performer, Katharine McPhee, hits US cinemas this weekend (and UK cinemas in October) with The House Bunny. At the end of the movie, presumably, she and other cast members regale us with a version of "I Know What Boys Like." I see sunshine on a cloudy day...
As part of NBC's international promotional tour for Heroes, they've divided the main cast members into three groups; British fans of Sendhil Ramamurthy (there surely must be some) are out of luck as he went to Asia with Greg Grunberg, Masi Oka and Ali Larter, while James Kyson Lee, Zachary Quinto, Noah Gray-Cabey and season two newbie Dania Ramirez stayed in the US (and Canada). Paris, Munich and London drew the long straw with Milo Ventimiglia, Jack Coleman, Adrian Pasdar and...
From yesterday's photocall at the London Eye (also visited by The Alba in fictional form during 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer). Red really suits Hayden. And this dress also prevents any almost-nipslips like in Paris.

Cindy Crawford, getting the weekend off to a good start.
This is Cindy being a lady who lunches.
It's at a Liane Weintraub lunch, whoever she is. But who it's for is of less importance than the fact that Cindy is there, continuing to define the term Yummy Mummy (or as she herself prefers MILF - Elizabeth Hurley and Salma Hayek are probably the closest rivals she has) and make the likes ofAdriana Lima and Gisele Bundchen look somewhat lesser.
The weather is grim outside with more rain a-coming, and the roadworks are piling up, and I don't get paid until next week, but Cindy continues to bring sunshine.
And it pleases me that her furniture line is a success.

Dear Perez Hilton, you are crap. Love, Victor.
You might have noticed that I like Heroes in general and Hayden Panettiere in particular. You also might have noticed people seeing shots of her around bars and wielding cigarettes and so on and so forth - as opposed to falling out of cars without underwear, going to jail for drunk driving etc - and worrying/hoping she'll turn out to be the next Lindsay Lohan.
Now while we're all (well, those of us who don't get their jollies from gloating over other people's trainwrecks) agreed that this would be a bad thing, we're also leaning a bit too far to the negative side, no? Everyone always goes "Paris! Lindsay! Tara!" and if they're older "Buffy from Family Affair!" but no one ever mentions Drew Barrymore, who went way off the rails in her teen years and survived to become a much cleaner adult.
No one ever mentions Jennifer Love Hewitt, who went from being a cute teenager with a nice rack to a cute grown woman with a nice rack. (Admittedly she's never been associated with rampant excess, but neither has Hayden - we're talking about a girl who, when told she'd be dropped by Neutrogena if she was ever seen with Paris Hilton again, stopped being seen with Paris Hilton.)
No one ever mentions Alyssa Milano, who successfully did something about her nice-little-Samantha-Micelli image and remains a male favourite to this day. No one ever mentions Jodie Foster, who admittedly never seemed like a little girl even when she was a little girl. And crucially, no one ever mentions River Phoenix, who had such a clean-living public persona and turned out to... well, you know. Or Paula Abdul, whose image circa 1990 was very different to what it is now and not, to be honest, in a good way. The point is, we don't know for sure what she'll turn out to be - let's just wait and see. Not everyone people eagerly count down until they're legal turns out to be a car crash waiting to happen.

The Alpha for the Omega.
Cindy's latest bit of business for Omega saw her going to Australia, and while you could fill a book with the list of commercial endorsements she's done that still isn't a problem with me. At all.
But anyone who compares this angel to Janice Dickinson should be forbidden to breed at the very least.
It's really tempting to use this to go into a post about how she > Kate Moss as much now as she did in the 1990s, but I won't. For more reactions and pictures, try this link. And that reminds me - I have to check out the new Ocean Drive as well, and try and decide whether or not I'd be delighted or disappointed should Cindy ever decide to change her mind and pose for Playboy again next year (she said it would be good for her 41-year-old ego, but on the other hand she's got other priorities now - and I genuinely respect that). The FHM 95 (not 100, not yet)
Since every country's FHM list is different, you can't have one be proclaimed the ultimate; which is why I decided to try and compile one massive Sexiest Women in the World list based on their votes. This is based on the five complete lists I've managed to get so far (UK, USA, Australia, France and Germany) - if anyone can get me the rest of the various 100s so I can update it that would be fabulous.
But first, a few notes:
1. Points are determined according to their positions on the various lists (a #1 placing gets 100 points, a #2 gets 99 and so on). In the event of a tie with the totals, the highest position on any list determines who comes in higher. (If there's another tie even with that, it comes down to alphabetical order.)
2. Anyone who only appears on one country's list is discounted. You have to be on at least two, since this is an international list. The more lists, the more people and therefore the more points.
3. Er... that's it.

The Cindy Spot presents My Own Personal Guide to the New US Shows II: The Next Day
Ah, the upfronts. My favourite part of the TV year, when we find out which shows are likely to be up for grabs at the LA Screenings and MIPCOM (or maybe not - they're likely to tread more carefully after last year, when all the major UK buyers got burnt to some degree; ITV was going to give Six Degrees the flagship channel treatment, the BBC snapped up, er 3 LBS., Channel 4 couldn't wait to take Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Five went for Vanished and Sky took Standoff. To compound this, they all passed on Heroes the first time around... though to be fair, BBC2 came to their senses later on, C4 did take Ugly Betty and Brothers and Sisters and Five has Shark). What's coming up, whether or not I'll take a look, and the ever-important eye-candy points (hence the Alttiere Factor - named after Jessica Alba and Hayden Panettiere, the lures that got me into Dark Angel and Heroes respectively). No reality shows included, by the way. Especially for the CW.

Worth checking out? Well, I never much cared for the original show (I was a loyalist to The Six Million Dollar Man myself), but it sounds... watchable.
Alttiere Factor: Reasonable. Katee Sackhoff is no Grace Park, and Michelle Ryan sure as hell ain't no Jessica Alba, but neither are they Trinny and Susannah.
Chances of being in the UK: Extremely high. The casting of a graduate from one of the main soaps helps, plus the fact that Sky One is always after new SF shows - plus the fact that Sci-Fi will be wanting something to fit in alongside Heroes (the first thing to regularly tune me to the channel since She Spies ended)...

Worth checking out? The premise of a spy with an enhanced brain is right up my alley, and McG already lured me in with Fastlane, The OC and the Charlie's Angels movies.
Alttiere Factor: Okay. Sarah Lancaster was cute on What About Brian.
Chances of being in the UK: Pretty good.

Worth checking out? Zap2it claims "there was a bit of a Life on Mars vibe to the trailer," but like most people, the moment I heard about this I thought Quantum Leap.
Alttiere Factor: Meh. Gretchen Egolf had to cope with Katherine Heigl and Emilie de Ravin when she was on Roswell and Kelly Hu when she was on Martial Law. Here she has to cope with Moon Bloodgood.
Chances of being in the UK: Could go either way.
Life
Worth checking out? Well, a cop coming back to the force after wrongful imprisonment doesn't spell long-lasting show. Plus it's from Rand Ravich, who still hasn't received the horsewhipping he should have gotten for The Astronaut's Wife.
Alttiere Factor: High. Sarah Shahi (illustrated)'s in it.
Chances of being in the UK: Good. ITV's digital channels love cop shows.
The IT Crowd
Worth checking out? A redo of the British show of the same name, so I have to skip such things on principle.
Alttiere Factor: Not good. Jessica St. Clair is cute, but...no.
Chances of being in the UK: Low. Then again UK channels show what is known over here as The Office: An American Workplace...
Lipstick Jungle
Worth checking out? Since I was never on board for Sex and the City, I may have to say no.

Not only does it have Leighton Meester (illustrated, and let's hope this hot little thing doesn't get killed off like when she was on 24 or be AWOL from several episodes like when she was on Surface), but the gifted and beautiful Kelly Rutherford is here as well - she's long overdue to be on a hit show, having already been on at least two good ones (The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. and Homefront... did you think I meant Threat Matrix and E-Ring? Please). The fact that the series is narrated by Veronica Mars herself, Kristen Bell, is the icing on the cake.

Jerry Goldsmith, may he rest in peace, said he didn't like scoring horror movies (Alien, The Omen) or action movies (he liked to joke that Rambo: First Blood Part II paid for his house). But he was so damn good at it!

The Bastardly can... I was going to say "kiss her ass" but they might like it despite their comments on her (overrated? This from a blog that likes TheArchivist non-favourite Adriana Lima?). So they can kiss Vanessa Feltz's ass instead. Or Anne Robinson's. Or Barbara Bush's. And as for the rest of you, check out anything of Goldsmith's that you can. (Except maybe Criminal Law.) What have I learned?
I learned that Hilary Duff performing at G-A-Y goes a long way towards atoning for the sight of Courtney Love in Trapped.
I learned that it's good for Sharon to finally win something more than £5 on the lottery.
I learned that the producers of Law & Order: Criminal Intent have only a nodding acquaintance with the concept of "shame."
I learned that the online Heroes comics at NBC's site are the first comic books in a very, very, very long time that I've read, due to my interest in such things being otherwise just about non-existent. Even after seeing the Superman movies, the X-Men movies, the Spider-Man movies, Fantastic Four, Daredevil and even The Phantom.
I learned that I deeply hate getting home too late to make any kind of proper dinner for myself
I learned that I'm too self-absorbed.
