The I Guess Those Guys Weren't Ready For It Yet... Post.

...but us kids are gonna love it.

I have wanting this to come out ever since... well, ever since Easter of 1986, when I saw the movie at the Globe Drive-In and not only became a fan of the film, but of Alan Silvestri (sitting in Dad's car with the screen blacked out but the credits still rolling, Silvestri's music eventually taking over from Huey Lewis and the News ("Get back, Marty") really got to me). I was so hot to get the album that I managed to get it from a classmate who was a member of Columbia House, and if MCA thought that the 13 minutes on the album (in amongst the songs) was enough, they were sorely mistaken. (In fairness to the Silvestri/Robert Zemeckis relationship, most of their subsequent scores have been better represented. I said most, thank you The Polar Express and the download-only A Christmas Carol.)

More than two decades later, and with no fanfare or hints or anything, it happened. Proving that Douglass Fake and Roger Feigelson are princes among men yet again, and making it seem like it's Christmas in November. It's been a true Holy Grail for many soundtrack fans... it's been one for me. I cannot WAIT to get my hands on this!

While this is a limited edition release, says Roger, we don't want anyone to miss out on this important album. For that reason, we have agreement that we can exceed the usual 3000 limit and do not need to indicate a specific amount on the packaging -- so there are more than enough to go around.

The Please Let Kaia Be Okay Post.

E! Online:

Cindy Crawford's the only one who takes photos for money in this bunch.

The supermodel and husband Rande Gerber were targeted by a would-be extortionist who had in his possession a "sexy" photo of the couple's then 7-year-old daughter and wanted to make a deal so the pic "wouldn't end up in the tabloids," according to a federal criminal complaint filed Tuesday.

The couple told investigators that Edis "Eddie" Kayalar, who has since been deported back to his home country of Germany, called them in July, claiming to be a "good person" who just wanted to help them out.

According to the complaint, Kayalar told them that the photo, in which their young daughter was gagged, dressed in shorts and a T-shirt, and tied to a chair, "just wasn't right" and he was "bothered" by it.

Presumably pretty horrified, Gerber and Crawford say that they had no idea such a photograph, which the family's former nanny has admitted to taking "as a prank," even existed.

"A criminal complaint was filed today in federal court in Los Angeles by the U.S. Attorney's office and the FBI, stating that Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford have been the victims of an ongoing extortion scheme," a rep for the couple said in a statement Thursday.

"There was no previous awareness by Mr. Gerber and Ms. Crawford of the existence of the photograph when they were contacted by Mr. Kayalar. The photo was taken by the former nanny as part of a purported game, without the knowledge of the parents. The couple reported the extortion threat to the police and the FBI began a criminal investigation in the matter.

"Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph of their daughter."

Per the complaint, Kayalar swiped the alarming-sounding pic from the nanny's apartment after meeting her at a bar. He also apparently got Crawford's cell phone number from there as well, while the nanny was asleep.

Kayalar also said he removed a handwritten note from the apartment that read, "The babysitter went crazy & tied everyone up & they need your help! Please."

Some game.

Kayalar arranged a meeting with Gerber at a bar in Venice, Calif., where he showed the father of two a copy of the picture on his cell phone, saying he had left the original with friends for safekeeping.

Kayalar "hinted that he was 'broke' and would like a monetary reward for returning the photograph," Special Agent Kelly L. Decker wrote.

Kayalar then agreed to meet with Gerber and a deputy sheriff to confront the nanny. When they were all face-to-face, the nanny, who had been fired a week before Kayalar ever got in touch with the family, admitted to taking the picture "as a prank."

Soon after, Gerber told authorities that he had a hard copy of the photo in his possession and had given Kayalar $1,000 in return, but two days later, Kayalar called him back and demanded more money, telling him the tabloids would have paid $500,000.

The LAPD's Major Crimes Bureau was alerted, after which they contacted Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Deportation proceedings against Kayalar kicked off in September.

In a phone call to Gerber from Germany on Nov. 1, Kayalar demanded $100,000 and threatened to give the photo to the media otherwise, the complaint states.

Blaming Gerber and Crawford for his deportation and financial struggles, Kayalar told Gerber that he knew he had committed a "f--ked-up crime" but that he felt he deserved the money.

Actually, he preferred 100,000 euros, because the American dollar was not worth "s--t" in Europe.

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller tells E! News that there is a warrant out for Kayalar's arrest. The nanny, who has not been identified, is not facing any charges at this point.

As for Crawford and Gerber, "they are the victims in this case," Eimiller said.

Unfortunately, it's not the first time pictures of Cindy's daughter have been the cause of misunderstandings. Way to try and mess up an innocent albeit freakishly beautiful YOUNG GIRL WHO WON'T HIT PUBERTY FOR SEVERAL YEARS, people. I would hate to be in Cindy's or Rande's shoes now.

One positive aspect:
TMZ did something laudable for once and refused to run the picture, and indeed it doesn't seem to be online anywhere. Nice to see some people have limits.

The Post In The Form Of A Link Post.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/nov/12/question-time-cindy-crawford

The Gift Exchange Post.

I joined it yesterday. Not at work, but at Film Score Magazine's messageboards - I hope whoever I draw asks for something good. I bet they do. And I'm sure it'll work out better than the last time it happened at work (when I didn't actually get a gift - still, it's better to give than to receive).

And now, gratutious pictures of Hayden, Jessica and Cindy.

In memory of Dollhouse, with the Actives about to fall asleep forever...

The Second Our Little Bit Of Score Post.

With thanks again to Dave Dueck at The Hiatus Project.

It's time for another update of my soundtrack collection -
a year and a day after the previous one.
It's also up to my most recent addition Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm, providing a convenient cutoff point, and it's also more reliable than SoundtrackCollector's method because it only counts albums once. Thanks again to Hans Zimmer and Heitor Pereira for the title - see last time for the explanation.

Ground rules get repeated each time:

1. Albums are listed for the most part in alphabetical order, except for sequels (if they start with the same sequence of words) and albums from the same TV show, and if the title of the movie itself is preceded by "Music From And Inspired By" or some such rider.

2. Albums that were taped off the original LP or CD are included but are asterisked; albums that were taped off but not completely aren't included, so no SpaceCamp (taped for me without the "Training Montage" cue).

3. The score running time, when it's there, indicates the amount of score if three or more songs are on the album (unless all the original songs and score are by the same composer, a la Mike Batt and Alan Menken).

4. The ones that I left in Barbados (and therefore presumably with my mum) are still included in the total - Zeta may be in Luxembourg but she's still my sister!

5. The movies and TV shows are listed here under their original titles, not the title on the album (so all the foreign-language stuff will be under their names at home, all the American ones under their US titles, all the British ones under their UK titles and so on - e.g. it's Santa Barbara, not California Clan).

6. Non-soundtrack works by people best known for screen music are included under the SMALL SCREEN umbrella, ditto the videogame scores.

7. If a title has (MGM) next to it, it indicates it's part of FSM's twelve-disc box set The MGM Soundtrack Treasury.

8. Finally, movies made for DVD still count as movies, and hence are included under BIG SCREEN. (CD singles aren't included, for the most part.)

Special thanks to my family, Matthew Florianz, the Goldsmith Film Music Society, Film Score Monthly, all the great soundtrack labels out there, Gerry Kroll, eBay, and all the composers who delight me. No thanks to the previous owner of the copy of Screen Themes which I originally had, who thought it would be a good idea to tape over it with the audio track of an episode of Heidi (the cartoon). In German.
